Job summary

Good Samaritan Hospice in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Weekend Registered Nurse to provide expert clinical care, guidance, and comfort to patients and families during end-of-life journeys. The role emphasizes compassionate presence, accurate documentation, and collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.

Schedule Friday through Monday, 8:00 am to 6:30 pm, on-site. Eligible candidates will hold Virginia RN licensure, have at least two years of nursing experience, and be proficient with EMR

Qualifications

Active RN license in Virginia
Minimum of two years nursing experience
Excellent communication and critical thinking

Responsibilities

Provide holistic care to patients and families as a member of the IDT
Respond to on-call needs and provide nursing services
Approach medical or emotional crises with direct home or facility visits
Complete after-hours visits to support RN Case Managers
Coordinate with physicians and staff to optimize patient care
Educate patients and caregivers on hospice philosophy and plan of care
Monitor changes in patient status and report to the IDT
Document accurately in the electronic record and report shifts
