Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a Weekend Registered Respiratory Therapist to assess patient needs and provide respiratory therapy in designated critical and non-critical areas according to physician orders.

The role requires NBRC credentials, a current Respiratory Therapist license, and at least 6 months of clinical experience with BLS; ACLS within one year, and PALS recommended. You will work as part of the critical care team and participate in rapid response activities.

Qualifications

• Current License as a Respiratory Therapist required.
• Credentials through the NBRC required.
• Minimum of 6 months clinical experience; BLS, ACLS within 1 year; PALS recommended.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain ventilatory support for adults and children in critical care areas.
• Evaluate patient condition, document assessments, and consult with physicians.
• Administer respiratory care and O2 therapy per physician order.
• Serve on Code Blue and Rapid Response teams; draw arterial blood gases and maintain airways.
• Perform arterial puncture and analyze blood gas values.
• Perform A-line insertion after appropriate training.
• Conduct diagnostic studies such as oximetry, CO2 monitoring, metabolic studies, bedside PFTs.
• Collaborate with physicians to adjust therapy; participate in in-service education.
• Assist physicians with bronchoscopy at bedside and in GI lab; label specimens properly.
