Job summary

City of Colorado Springs is seeking a part-time Ranch Hand to serve as the main on-site staff during weekends at Rock Ledge Ranch. The role includes caring for horses, assisting in agricultural tasks, basic maintenance, and guest interaction in the historic site context.

The position requires weekend and evening availability, holidays, and a .5 FTE with an average of 20 hours per week. Regular attendance is essential for smooth operations and events.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
• Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary driver’s license not subject to restrictions

Responsibilities

• Open and close facilities on site, primarily over the weekend.
• Assist with basic equestrian and domestic farm animal care
• Assist guests with general questions and historical interpretation when needed
• Perform minor building repairs and maintenance
• Perform custodial duties for on site restrooms and other facilities
• Perform agricultural tasks such as planting crops and gardening, to minor landscaping
• Assist with snow removal and plowing in the winter
• Help set up and take down equipment for special events
• Operate as the main staff on site during weekends
• Other duties as assigned
