Job summary

The Children’s Museum of Manhattan seeks a part-time Public Programs Fill-In Supervisor to support weekends and special events. You will supervise Museum Educators, help run workshops, and assist with setup and breakdown of family programs.

You will engage families and children through artmaking, STEAM activities, storytelling, movement and music, while ensuring safety and museum policies. This on-site role requires one year supervisory experience and excellent teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience working in retail, cultural centers, community-based organizations, performing arts organizations, or museums.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Excel, and scheduling software.
  • Excellent judgment, professionalism and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Ability to engage with children and adults in a welcoming, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor CMOM’s team of Museum Educators and ensure events begin on time and policies are followed.
  • Run events, workshops, and performances with Public Programs staff and guest collaborators.
  • Provide oversight for setup and breakdown of family programs.
  • Engage visiting families and children in artmaking, STEAM activities, storytelling, facilitated play, movement and music activities.
  • Assist with documentation of all programs as needed.
