The Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) is seeking a Public Programs Educator for part-time, nonexempt work at our Upper West Side location. You will lead drop-in programs and activities for Birth-8 children with caregiver participation, fostering play and early learning.

Join a team that values hands-on exploration, arts, science, and culture. The role involves friendly family engagement, classroom-like setting, and collaboration with Public Programs staff to connect visitors with CMOM

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children (ages 0-6) and families in informal or formal settings such as museums, preschools, daycares, or afterschool programs.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and developing new skills in arts education and early childhood education.
  • Ability to engage with diverse families with warmth, diplomacy, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Lead drop-in programs and activities (artmaking, storytelling, play, music, movement) for visiting families and children.
  • Assist in preparing materials for future family programs and reset of exhibition spaces.
  • Welcome families, guide activities, and provide materials/information to help navigation of the space.
  • Support cleaning team in maintaining program areas and exhibit spaces.
