Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or related science with clinical rotation.
• Alternative: regional college degree plus NAACLS accredited Medical Technologist program.
• Alternative: degree with structured clinical rotation and 1 year relevant lab experience within last ten years.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen processing and microscopy, inoculates media, and prepares and examines stained smears and wet mounts.
• Performs tests to detect/identify infectious agents and determine antimicrobial susceptibility.
• Maintains workflow and test turnaround times per department scope of service.
• Produces accurate electronic and written patient reports and communicates verbally.
• Operates and maintains department equipment; performs preventive/corrective maintenance.
• Participates in quality assurance, records maintenance, and adherence to policies.
• Assists in training and competency evaluation of testing personnel.
• Ensures proper inventory, storage of media/reagents, and safe handling of hazardous substances.
