Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center is seeking a Phlebotomist to greet patients, perform blood draws, and manage specimen labeling and data entry. You will prepare samples for multiple departments and support clerical tasks while collaborating closely with Nursing staff.

The role requires phlebotomy training, with certification preferred, weekend availability for PRN shifts, and prior hospital experience is valued. Training and internship opportunities may be available as well.

Qualifications

• Graduate of phlebotomy course/program required.
• Phlebotomy certification highly preferred, but can obtain after hire.
• One year of experience required for interview consideration.
• Weekend availability for PRN shifts is required.
• Hospital experience preferred for this role.
• Phlebotomy internship desirable.
• Larger facility experience desirable.
• Looking for trainable candidates with good experience and ability to work as a team.
• Six months keyboarding or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• Draw blood specimens by finger sticks, heel sticks, or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.
• Label specimens for identification and enter data into the computer.
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.
• Assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.
• Work closely with Nursing staff.
