Job summary

HCA Healthcare seeks a Phlebotomist to perform blood collection and specimen processing in a hospital setting. Under supervision, you may perform routine CLIA-waived analyses and quality control as needed, contributing to safe patient care.

The role emphasizes accuracy in labeling, data entry, and collaboration with laboratory sections. A strong customer-service mindset supports patient experience and safety in a dynamic hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of phlebotomy course required.
• One year of experience preferred; hospital experience highly desired.
• Minimum 8-10 sticks per hour.
• If the phlebotomy program is not complete, at least one year of medical laboratory experience or college coursework in biological/chemical sciences is required.
• Six months keyboarding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• Draw blood specimens by finger, heel, or venipuncture and collect other specimens as required.
• Label specimens accurately and enter data into the computer.
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank and urinalysis departments.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Laboratory Phlebotomist performs collections of blood samples and specimens efficiently and appropriately following hospital and department standards and policies. Under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, the Phlebotomist may also performs routine technical functions, CLIA waived analyses and quality control. What you will do in this role:

• You will greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• You will draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.
• You will label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.
• You will prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.
• You will assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.

What Qualifications Will You Need:

• Graduate of Phlebotomy Course required
• Additional1 year of experience preferred.
• Hospital experienced highly desired and preferred.
• MINIMUM 8-10 sticks/hour.
• If phlebotomy program has not been completed, then must have one-year experience in a medical laboratory required or college course work in biological/chemical sciences.
• Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
