Job summary

Liberty Hospital is hiring a Perioperative Nurse for Preop/PACU with weekend option. The role requires RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, and PALS. You will coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care and guide teaching for patients and families.

Hours are 07:00–19:00 on Saturdays and Sundays; part-time status applies. Requires strong leadership, safety focus, and commitment to lifelong learning in a fast-paced perioperative setting.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate.
• Associate Degree Nursing.
• Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing Kansas or Missouri (or compact license).
• CPR/ AED/ BLS - Other BLS within 14 days.
• Some units will require additional unit-specific affirmations/certifications/work experience.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assesses patient’s/family’s readiness to learn and teaches back; adapts approach as needed.
• Interacts professionally with patients, families, and health care staff.
• Adheres to medication safety policies including order writing and double checks.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Anticipates and intervenes promptly for patient and staff safety.
• Consistently meets the work schedule.
• Models therapeutic communication respecting psychosocial and cultural needs.
• Delivers delegation according to task and expertise.
• Takes a leadership role to foster an environment where the team thrives.
• Develops and evaluates care plans adapting to condition changes.
• Performs comprehensive assessments for targeted patient populations.
• Pursues ongoing learning through unit certs, consultations, in-services, and teamwork.
