Job summary

Ditmas-Children is seeking a skilled Physical Therapist to join our pediatric long-term care team for weekend coverage. The role focuses on keeping children mobile, comfortable, and participating in daily activities with high-frequency intervention and individualized therapy plans.

The successful candidate will evaluate, treat, and monitor pediatric patients with complex needs, collaborating with families and the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Current Physical Therapist licensure in the state of practice.
• Inpatient pediatric experience, preferably with medically complex or high-acuity patients.
• Familiarity with ventilators and other respiratory support equipment.
• Knowledge of high-frequency intervention approaches and a genuine passion for this model of care.
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and collaboration skills.
• Availability to work weekends.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and develop individualized treatment plans based on their needs, goals, and medical status.
• Provide physical therapy interventions for children with high-acuity needs.
• Use high-frequency intervention approaches and adapt treatment to each patient's goals, progress, and tolerance.
• Monitor and document patient response, progress, and changes in condition.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and support continuity between therapy sessions.
• Follow facility policies and applicable professional standards for safe, effective care.
