Job summary

Reading Hospital in Reading, PA, is seeking a Patient Transporter for weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday, 10:30pm–7:00am). You will move patients, blood products, and medical items between units and diagnostic areas, supporting nursing staff and ensuring safe, efficient patient flow across Tower Health facilities.

This role requires strict PPE use, adherence to safety policies, good communication, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Completes required competencies and trainings for the role.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Safely move patients and medical items between units and diagnostic/treatment areas.
• Walk more than 10 miles per 8-hour shift while pushing a patient 60% of that distance.
• Assist patient care staff in safe patient handling and transfers.
• Provide emergency assistance to patients who become ill during transport, and stay with them until help arrives.
• Transport deceased patients to the Morgue with a staff escort and ensure paperwork is completed.
