Job summary

The City of Apple Valley is seeking a Seasonal Park Worker to perform grounds and facility maintenance to enhance park user experience and the city’s appearance. Duties include mowing, snow removal, painting, restroom upkeep, trash collection, and basic landscaping tasks.

This role requires weekend work (Saturdays and Sundays), 18+ years old, a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather. Background check required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age (by date of hire).
• Experience in home and yard maintenance activities.
• Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Must have a valid driver's license and agood driving record.

Responsibilities

• Mowing and trimming of parks.
• Snow removal and plowing.
• Athletic field maintenance and preparation: grooming of infields, pitching mound maintenance, painting of soccer and football fields, chalking infields, and fence repair.
• Painting of park structures: buildings, signs, and trash barrels etc.
• Restroom cleaning and picnic facility preparation.
• Trash and litter collection.
• Tree maintenance: watering, fertilizing, mulching, pruning and wrapping for winter.
• Turf fertilization.
• Shrub and flower bed maintenance: weeding, pruning, watering, mulching, and fertilizing.
• Assist Fulltime Staff on technical maintenance or special projects: irrigation repair, equipment repair, landscaping construction and repairs to varied facilities.
• Weekend work is required.
• Assist in pool preparation & maintenance.
