Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• NBSTSA surgical technologist certification within four months of employment.
• BLS certification required.
• Ability to resource advanced surgical technology.
• Required 15 CEUs annually as per state law.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures to anticipate surgeon needs within 12 months.
• Familiarity with names and functions of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Adherence to sterile field policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist pre-operatively in ensuring presence and proper arrangement of equipment, supplies and instrumentation.
• Assist the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards.
• Assist in turnover of the operating room after procedures, handling specimens and equipment.
