Job summary

Penske Logistics is seeking an Operations Supervisor at our Groveport, OH location to lead hourly staff and daily activities across loading, cross-docking and customer service. You will supervise processes, schedule workforce and equipment, and participate in hiring decisions while ensuring alignment with company goals.

The role requires strong communication, problem-solving and process-improvement capabilities, with a focus on safety, efficiency and cost objectives.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years related functional experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and active listening.
• Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Ownership and responsibility to run the operation with urgency.
• Ability to connect and build rapport with associates and external customers.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to drive process improvement and lead change.
• Willingness to travel and flexibility for shift.

Responsibilities

• Establish and sustain training so supervisors and associates align with customer objectives.
• Communicate clear, specific performance standards and provide coaching.
• Interview hourly associates and participate in hiring decisions.
• Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance; coach as needed.
• Motivate teams by recognizing achievements and fostering teamwork.
• Supervise logistics operations including customer service, dispatch, and documentation.
• Conduct team meetings and evaluate work methods to boost productivity.
• Provide relief coverage for operational duties during absences.
• Maintain site systems knowledge to ensure compliance and correct exceptions.
• Complete records and reports promptly and accurately.
• Manage overtime to meet productivity targets and control costs.
