Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Medical Technologist/MLS/CLS to provide accurate and timely testing for diagnosis and treatment. You will perform diverse lab tests, operate and troubleshoot equipment, and uphold QA standards while collaborating with clinicians and staff.

The role includes education and training responsibilities, potential phlebotomy duties, and ensuring accreditation compliance. Weekend night shifts and on-call requirements may apply, with an emphasis on high-quality customer service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (BSCLS) from an NAACLS-accredited program or a Bachelor's in Biological Science with an NAACLS/CLS/MT certificate
• Master's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science is preferred
• Current MT/MLS/CLS certification by ASCP/NCA/AMT or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests according to established procedures
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, validates lab equipment
• Performs quality control and follows QA guidelines
• Educates and trains laboratory personnel, students and residents
• Maintains laboratory supplies and inventory
• May perform specimen collection and phlebotomy as applicable
• Ensures CAP and TJ accreditation standards are met
• Perform other duties as assigned
