Job summary

VCU Health in Richmond, VA is seeking a Medical Technologist/MLS/CLS to perform high-complexity laboratory testing and deliver accurate results to clinicians.

The role involves operating and maintaining instruments, performing quality control, and supporting education of students and staff.

Education required includes BSCLS or biology with NAACLS pathway; certification must be obtained within 6 months of graduation; weekend/on-call duties may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CLS or Biological Science with NAACLS pathway or equivalent certification.
• Certification within 6 months of graduation is required.
• Experience with high complexity testing and lab safety practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests according to established procedures.
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and validates lab equipment.
• Performs quality control and follows QA guidelines.
• Assists in educating and training laboratory personnel, students, and residents.
• Maintains laboratory supplies and inventory.
• May perform specimen collection, processing and phlebotomy as applicable.
• Ensures accreditation standards (CAP, TJ) are met.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
