Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Medical Technologist I to join our Palmer, AK laboratory on a part-time weekend shift.

The role involves performing routine and specialized tests on blood and body fluids under minimal supervision, ensuring accurate results, and maintaining QC protocols. The incumbent may teach new staff and students, perform phlebotomy when required, and collaborate with a team to maintain efficient shift coverage while upholding safety standards and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• Passing score on the Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency examination approved by HHS (HEW).
• 0-2 years of acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity laboratory tests with accuracy and timely reporting.
• Adhere to quality control procedures and document results.
• Conduct instrument checks and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and coordinate with staff as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and PPE use.
• Communicate results and issues with healthcare staff.
• Assist with proficiency testing and data collection for regulatory compliance.
• Perform phlebotomy duties as needed to support patient care.
