Job summary

Monroe County Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist for an onsite weekend worker role. The incumbent will perform a wide range of laboratory tests and ensure accurate entry of results under supervision, maintaining equipment and quality control.

The position requires an associate degree in medical laboratory technology, GDHR-approved exam, and certification as a Medical Technician, with familiarity in lab technologies and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Successful completion of a GDHR-approved exam.
• Certification as a Medical Technician.
• Ability to perform medical laboratory procedures per current policies.
• Familiarity with technology related to the assigned lab sections.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical laboratory tests across hematology, immunohematology, chemistry, bacteriology, serology, parasitology, endocrinology, general immunology, and urinalysis.
• Tests are performed according to laboratory procedures and reports are entered correctly.
• Operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation.
• Logs daily temperature checks and equipment performance.
• Records results in hospital information systems and prints reports as required.
• Performs quality controls and documents QC for each procedure daily.
