Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician for weekend shifts to perform clinical testing of laboratory specimens and ensure accurate data for patient care. Under supervision, you will obtain specimens, verify patient identification, perform testing on analyzers, and ensure QC, documentation, and prompt reporting of critical values.

Required: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technician, ASCP eligible, 6 months of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree: Medical Laboratory Technician program.
• Minimum of 6 months laboratory experience preferred.
• ASCP eligible and successfully pass certification exam within 6 months of hire or certified Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or AMT.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical testing of laboratory specimens.
• Verifies patient identification and specimen labeling.
• Performs quality control testing on analyzers and reagents.
• Troubleshoots instrumentation and assays and documents results.
• Communicates critical values promptly to physicians and nursing staff.
• Maintains safety, infection control and department procedures.
