Job summary

Arkansas Children’s Hospital is seeking an Interpreter to provide professional foreign language interpretation and translation for patients and families. The role is weekend, part-time, with 8:00-8:30pm shifts, requiring a bachelor’s degree or equivalent healthcare interpreting experience, and offering a salary range of $20.50–$25.60 per hour depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or four years related experience.
• Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) recommended.
• 1 year healthcare interpreting experience recommended.

Responsibilities

• Provides timely and accurate interpretation and translation to AC patients and families.
• Proficiently interprets information without adding in opinions, bias or advice.
• Demonstrates proficiency in writing as evidenced by quality translation of patient specific materials as well as educational pamphlets and materials.
• Educates staff regarding cultural issues that may be barriers to care.
• Takes responsibility for confirming that the language request has been completed and the patient or staff received the assistance as requested.
• Follows up with patient or family to see if concerns have been addressed or resolved.
