Alicat Scientific, Inc. in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Weekend Machine Shop Operator for the second shift (Friday–Sunday, 5am–5pm). You will work hands-on with machined parts, assist in setting up lathes, horizontal mills, hydraulic saws, and robot-fed vertical mills, with opportunities for growth and internal promotion.

The role emphasizes safety, precision, and teamwork. Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs, be detail oriented, and willing to learn.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently and stand for extended periods.
• Basic math and computer skills; Excel experience a plus.
• Must be detail-oriented, accountable, and self-motivated.
• Machine shop experience helpful but not required.
• Willingness to learn, grow, and take ownership of your role.

Responsibilities

• Operate saws and prepare raw materials per job specifications.
• Assist CNC machinists in machine setup and operation.
• Deburr and sand machined parts using tools and finishing equipment.
• Track inventory and material usage in logs and spreadsheets.
• Perform routine maintenance on saws and workspace.
• Move materials safely using appropriate tools/equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop area.
• Follow all company safety protocols and standard procedures.
