Job summary

Alicat Scientific, Inc. in Tucson, AZ seeks a Shop Operator for the second shift to work hands-on with machined parts and run lathes, mills, and saws. You’ll support CNC machinists, perform deburrs, and help maintain a safe, efficient shop.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently and stand for extended periods.
• Basic math and computer skills; Excel experience a plus.
• Must be detail-oriented, accountable, and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Operate saws and prepare raw materials per job specifications.
• Assist CNC machinists in machine setup and operation.
• Deburr and sand machined parts using tools and finishing equipment.
• Track inventory and material usage in logs and spreadsheets.
• Perform routine maintenance on saws and workspace.
• Move materials safely using appropriate tools/equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop area.
• Follow all company safety protocols and standard procedures.

Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable individual to join our second shift as a Shop Operator. In this role, you’ll work hands-on with machined parts, assist in running lathes, horizontal mills, hydraulic saws, and get the opportunity to operate robot-fed vertical mills. This is a perfect position for someone looking to break into the machining field with the opportunity to grow and be promoted from within. Hours Friday-Sunday 5am-5pm
