Job summary

Alicat Scientific, Inc. is seeking a reliable Weekend Operator to join its Tucson, AZ shop team. You will work Friday–Sunday, 5am–5pm, operating saws, assisting CNC machinists, and helping maintain a safe, efficient shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds consistently.
• Basic math and computer skills; Excel experience a plus.
• Detail-oriented, accountable, and self-motivated.
• Machine shop experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operate saws and prepare raw materials per job specifications.
• Assist CNC machinists in machine setup and operation.
• Deburr and sand machined parts using finishing tools.
• Track inventory and material usage in logs and spreadsheets.
• Perform routine maintenance on saws and workspace.
• Move materials safely using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop area.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures.

In this role, you’ll work hands-on with machined parts, assist in running lathes, horizontal mills, hydraulic saws, and get the opportunity to operate robot-fed vertical mills.
