Job summary

Saint Leo University Brasil is seeking a Library Graduate Assistant (GA) to support weekend and evening operations in the library. The role involves circulation tasks, supervising student workers, and assisting patrons with locating materials and using databases.

You will help plan events, update social media, and ensure accurate attendance records. The position emphasizes customer service excellence, teamwork, and reliable scheduling for evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Understanding of good customer service.
• Proficiency in monitoring attendance, work output, and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with office equipment including telephones, copiers, and fax machines.
• Familiarity with library resources, services and databases.
• Proficiency with written English, social media tools, and communication.
• Basic knowledge of Zotero, EndNote, Mendeley or other citation tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist with opening/closing the building as scheduled.
• Plan and run weekly student-centered events.
• Post to the library's social media to advertise events and resources.
• Monitor attendance and performance of student workers; provide feedback.
• Connect students with faculty librarians and assist in person or by phone.
• Troubleshoot computers and printers; support library tech.
• Staff customer service touch points as needed.
• Monitor building safety and security.
• Create displays and oversee student workers' contributions.
• Input records in Excel for donated or shelved items; ensure accuracy.
• Inventory physical materials as assigned.
• Shelve materials and supervise student workers in shelving tasks.
• Report attendance and absences accurately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
