Job summary

Penn Medicine's HUP Perelman Infusion Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join on weekends (16 hours per week). The role involves compounding sterile products, maintaining cleanroom standards, and ensuring compliance with USP / and state regulations.

You will work under a licensed pharmacist, supporting infusion therapies and collaborating with ID physicians and pharmacists. Required: CPhT- Certified Pharmacy Tech and PA Registered Technician, HS Diploma/GED.

Qualifications

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is required.
• Registered Technician (PA State Board of Pharmacy) is required.
• HS Diploma/GED is required.
• Previous infusion pharmacy experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care with infectious disease (ID) physicians, ID pharmacists and support staff to service patients discharged on intravenous antibiotics as part of the ID Transition Service.
• Collaborate with ID pharmacists, ID physicians, and staff from home infusion companies, rehab centers, and skilled nursing facilities to coordinate care for patients discharged on intravenous antimicrobials.
• Provide follow-up to team members to communicate pharmaceutical needs to patients and families.
• Coordinate ID clinic appointment dates with internal clinic members.
• Coordinate integrated patient care between the ID clinic and outside facilities with ID providers and staff at home infusion companies and nursing facilities.
• Maintain communication with outside facilities to ensure lab parameters are drawn at appropriate intervals and results are faxed to the ID clinic.
• Fax information to outside facilities to initiate appropriate antimicrobials and collaborate on discontinuation plans with ID pharmacists and physicians.
• Key team partners include: Clinical Pharmacists, Providers, Medical Assistants, ID Pharmacists, ID physicians, and clinical clerical staff.
