Job summary

Penn Medicine, a leading academic medical center, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support sterile compounding and prepare hazardous medications in accordance with USP 797/800 guidelines. The role emphasizes maintaining aseptic areas, stocking supplies, and collaborating with Pharmacists to ensure timely delivery and accurate preparation.

Under supervision, the technician will rotate shifts and assist with performance improvement projects to streamline workflows within Penn Home Infusion

Qualifications

• 1+ years Pharmacy Technician Compounding experience in sterile product preparation.

Responsibilities

• Ability to use technical judgment in performing repetitive job functions that require following instructions and keen attention to detail in selecting prescribed drugs within drug parameters
• Accurately calculates the quantity of medication and supplies and compound-related products
• Adheres to guidelines outlined in USP797/USP 800 in relation to sterile product preparation, cleaning procedures, equipment maintenance, and documentation requirements
• Provides timely communications to Pharmacists for checking, delivery, and general activities
• Obtains and reviews labels to determine required products and delivery time
• Keeps active inventory in the work area and appropriately restocks the area with returned medications
