Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Carolina Veterinary Specialists – Huntersville is seeking an ICU Weekend Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks and patient care in a busy 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital.

The role involves cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising and grooming patients, preparing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, and clerical tasks. Friday–Sunday shifts with on-call emergencies are possible.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
• 3 years of relevant experience in the veterinary field, including emergency and/or ICU experience.
• 5+ years of emergency and critical care experience preferred; CVT/LVT/RVT/LVMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, and record basic measurements on arrival.
• Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medications as directed.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with medication administration and patient restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and document procedures.
