Job summary

IU Health Bloomington Hospital is seeking a part-time environmental services worker to perform cleaning and sanitizing duties on Saturdays and Sundays, with some weekday availability. Shift runs 7:00am–3:30pm, totaling 24 hours per week, in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Role emphasizes adherence to infection control standards, proper use of protective gear, and collaboration with clinical teams to support safe patient care flow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
• No previous experience required.
• Ability to wear protective equipment as required by environment/regulations.
• Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs or more, and up to 80% of the time.
• Ability to operate light cleaning equipment in patient care areas.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Ability to clean areas requiring technical cleaning in sensitive units.

Responsibilities

• Provides cleaning and sanitizing services to support a safe, clean and welcoming environment.
• Cleans and sanitizes offices, cafeterias and retail and public spaces.
• Supports patient safety through consistent and high-quality service.
• Applies disinfection protocols and utilizes approved cleaning tools per infection control standards.
• Conducts hazardous and biohazardous waste removal per safety regulations, and infection prevention protocols.
• Communicates and collaborates with clinical teams to support cleaning processes and patient care flow.
