Job summary

Good Shepherd Community Care in Newton, MA is seeking a Weekend Nurse to join its On-Call team. The role covers home visits across Greater Boston and parts of MetroWest, with a 40-hour weekly schedule Friday through Monday, 9 am–7 pm.

Candidates must be an RN licensed in MA (or LPN), with at least 2 years nursing experience and hospice exposure. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered, and the organization provides comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Massachusetts or LPN with current license.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; hospice or similar end-of-life care experience.
• Sensitivity to and knowledge about end-of-life issues.
• Comfortable with socioculturally diverse patients and families.
• Ability to manage pain and control symptoms.
• Flexible and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Adaptable to changing patient needs and to technology.

Responsibilities

• Provides home and hospital visits, information sessions, evaluates new patients, and coordinates care planning.
• Titrates medications and manages symptoms per hospice protocol.
• Communicates with the interdisciplinary hospice team about patient changes.
• Educates patients and families about terminal diseases and end-of-life processes.
