Job summary

Suncoast Hospice, part of Empath Health, is seeking a compassionate Hospice RN for a weekend shift (Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM) serving Pinellas County homes and facilities. You will coordinate patient/family needs, provide end-of-life care, and document medications under physician orders within a supportive interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Valid Florida license as a Registered Nurse is required.
• Valid Florida State Driver’s License is required.
• CPR certification from ARC or AHA.
• Preferred: 1 year experience in acute or post-acute care.
• Preferred experience caring for terminal patients.

Responsibilities

• Under physician’s orders, identify and coordinate patient/family needs and provide preventative and supportive end-of-life care.
• Use assessment, intervention and teaching to maximize patient comfort and quality of life for the patient/family unit.
• Administer, monitor and document medications as prescribed by the attending physician.
• Assist with closure contact and family support after a patient’s death in collaboration with the IDT.

What you’ll Do

• Under physician’s orders, the nurse is responsible for identifying and coordinating patient/family needs and for providing preventative and supportive care to the terminally ill patient/family unit.
• Utilizes assessment, intervention and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and to enhance the quality of life to the patient/family unit.
• Demonstrates the ability to administer, monitor and document medications as prescribed by attending physician.
• Following a patient’s death, assists with closure contact and support in collaboration with IDT.

What You’ll Need

• Valid Florida license as a Registered Nurse
• Valid Florida State Driver’s License
• Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Prefer one (1) year experience in an acute or post acute care setting
• Preferred experience caring for terminal patients and others with life threatening illnesses.
• For field-based positions, employees must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must provide proof of valid automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in the employee’s HR file.
