Job summary

Trans-Phos, Inc. in Mulberry, FL, is seeking a Heavy Truck General Mechanic for weekend daytime hours to maintain and repair heavy trucks and trailers at our terminal. This full-time, hourly role offers a 4 x 10-hour shift schedule with weekends required and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities include tire changes, brake system repairs, engine servicing, and diagnosing issues with guidance from the Fleet Manager. Valid basics include tools, lifting 50 lbs, and ability to work on uneven surfaces.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
• Experience reading service manuals & work orders.
• Efficient repair skills to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance and general repairs, including tire changes, brake system repairs, steering and suspension work, and diesel engine servicing.
• Diagnose and address minor mechanical issues, replacing parts such as lights, mud flaps, belts, hoses, and filters under the direction of the Fleet Manager.
• Maintain terminal grounds, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Assist in roadside cleanup efforts and other maintenance tasks as needed.
• Conduct routine oil changes, lubrication, and inspections to ensure fleet reliability.
• Report potential mechanical failures or safety concerns to management promptly.
• Support special projects and additional tasks assigned by the Fleet Manager or Operations Team.
