Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Fiber Optic Specialist for weekend night shifts in Devens, MA. You will handle, splice, test, and maintain thousands of optical fibers for the SPARC fusion machine, coordinating with operations and R&D teams.

The role requires 4+ years in fiber optics, experience with attenuation and spectral analysis, and lab fiber handling. On-site, with a competitive pay range and comprehensive benefits, you will contribute to a safe, high-precision manufacturing

Qualifications

4+ years experience in fiber optics field applications.
Experience with attenuation, insertion loss, and spectral analysis measurements using tools such as OTDR/OSA/OBR.
Experience handling fibers in a lab setting with known standards.

Responsibilities

Handle, route, splice, test, and repair thousands of fibers in the SPARC fusion machine.
Mechanically integrate small assemblies with fiber work, e.g., passthrough flanges and enclosures.
Apply composite or polymer wrappings to fibers and enclosures.
Train technicians on installation, splicing, routing, and measurement procedures.
Improve safety protocols for laser and fiber optic handling.
Fulfill fiber needs for manufacturing and R&D.
