Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Fiber Optic Specialist to support R&D and production with fiber splicing, testing, and integration into complex designs. The role involves maintaining equipment, ensuring low attenuation, and collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams.

Onsite work supports SPARC fusion machine fiber work, with night shifts and a 6:00 pm - 6:00 am schedule. Applicants should have extensive fiber optics experience, including cryogen/ vacuum conditions,

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience in fiber optics field applications.
• 7+ years experience in fiber optics field applications.
• Experience with attenuation, insertion loss, and spectral analysis measurements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct the handling, routing, splicing, testing, and potential repair of 1000s of fibers throughout the SPARC fusion machine.
• Perform mechanical integration of small assemblies adjacent or in conjunction with the fiber work.
• Install fiber wrappings for fibers and enclosures.
• Train technicians in installation, splicing, routing, and measurement procedures.
• Improve safety protocols for laser and fiber optic handling.
