Qualifications

• Cleaning experience in hospital or industrial setting; sanitation principles and techniques preferred.
• Ability to read and write to understand directions, warnings on cleaning supplies, postings, and logs.
• Interpersonal skills to be pleasant and courteous with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail for most of the workday.

Responsibilities

• Follows work schedule and performs all daily and weekly tasks in the assigned area to meet department standards.
• Operates heavy housekeeping equipment as needed.
• Removes trash and empties needle boxes following hazardous waste procedures.
• Provides carpet care: vacuuming, spot removal, bonnet cleaning.
• Maintains tiled floors by dry/damp mopping and burnishing; may strip and refinish floors.
• Inspects area and performs tasks independently.
• Plans supply and equipment needs and maintains par level of supplies.
• Attends hospital/department in-services and meetings.
