Job summary

Mercy Medical Center - Cedar Rapids seeks a Weekend EKG Technician to perform electrocardiograms across ED and in-house settings, and to place Holter and Event monitors. You will reconcile tracings with orders, prioritize STAT studies, and maintain equipment while supporting training for new staff.

The role requires high school/GED and BLS certification, with preferred experience in cardiology, nursing, EMT, or related fields, working a weekend schedule.

Qualifications

• Basic EKG interpretation skills preferred.
• Some medical terminology knowledge preferred.
• Experience in cardiology, nursing, EMT, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant or respiratory therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform Electrocardiograms in the Emergency Department and all in-house locations.
• Place Holter and Event monitors.
• Reconcile EKGs with orders and assign to physicians in a timely manner.
• Differentiate STAT EKGs and prioritize completion.
• Maintain and troubleshoot EKG equipment.
• Assist with training of new employees, student interns, and other department staff.
• Perform EKG services according to hospital procedures and communicate findings.
• Notify providers of critical values for inpatients and outpatients.
