Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking an ECG Technician to perform 12- and 18-lead ECGs and rhythm strips with minimal artifact for cardiologist interpretation. Responsibilities include patient verification, lead placement, electrode preparation, Holter/Event monitoring, and equipment maintenance.

Cross-training and staff orientation are also part of the role. Requirements include BLS certification and a high school diploma or GED, with 1 year of EKG experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support certification required
• High school diploma or GED required
• 1 year of EKG experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient identity and orders to ensure correct testing
• Places electrodes and prepares chest for high-quality tracings
• Performs, transmits, and processes 12- and 18-lead EKGs
• Conducts Holter and Event monitoring and teaches patients diary procedures
• Maintains equipment and coordinates with leadership on supplies and repairs
• Assists in cross-training and orientation of new staff
• Adheres to department policies and procedures and completes other duties as assigned
