Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
• Experience in direct care with developmentally disabled individuals.
• Ability to enter information into a computer and perform simple calculations.
• Good communication skills and professional demeanor with staff, residents, vendors, and families.
• Organized and able to multitask with attention to detail.
• Willingness to complete training including medication training within 30 days of hire.
• Must communicate, read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Verify, administer, and record medications and treatments.
• Prepare and serve meals per dietician menu.
• Assist with shopping, meals, and church activities.
• Ensure residents observe hygiene and wear appropriate clothing.
• Know residents' abilities, disabilities and interests.
• Provide behavior intervention to ensure safety and proper recording of incidents.
• Make decisions in emergencies and respond calmly.
• Demonstrate proper body mechanics and lifting techniques.
• Support cares, therapies and developmental programs as assigned.
• Attend daily work and cover scheduled shifts, possibly with overtime.
• Participate in disaster response or COOP as needed.
