Job summary

ADAPT of Hudson Valley is seeking weekend Direct Support Professionals to provide direct support, advocacy, and education for individuals in our care. The role includes assisting with daily living activities, meal preparation, and documentation of progress using Staff Action Plans.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License required and must be maintained in good standing.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers, residents and families.
• Six months of related experience preferred but not required.
• AMAP certification or training will be provided within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and serve as role model, advocate, and teacher for the people supported.
• Train, supervise, assist and monitor daily living skills to promote independence using Staff Action Plans.
• Facilitate community integration by finding activities of interest for the person supported.
• Develop and implement the person’s Staff Action Plan and document data as required.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and inviting environment.
• Transport people in agency vehicles following safety guidelines.
• Demonstrate flexibility to address changing needs and situations.
• Comply with agency and OPWDD regulations and policies.
• Maintain safe work practices and perform SCIP-R duties.
• Work outdoors and drive in inclement weather as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
