Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or Post-Master’s Degree in Nursing with a Specialization in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
• Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience with psychiatric or mental health patients.
• Active Arkansas State license as APRN and DEA license within six months of hire.
• Active National Certification from an Approved Nursing Specialty Board.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct clinical services for psychiatric patients according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the supervising physician.
• Functions independently to perform individual assessments, diagnostic functions, specialized risk assessments, and make critical decisions in a wide variety of health situations.
• Obtains patient health histories and completes exams; orders, performs, and interprets lab and diagnostic imaging studies; diagnoses and treats acute health problems.
• Provides counseling to promote healthy lifestyles and arranges consultations and referrals; documents examination results in patient records.
• Prescribes, manages, and supervises medication treatment for psychiatric conditions and may prescribe controlled substances under supervisory protocol.
