Springwoods Behavioral Health in Fayetteville, AR is seeking a Contract, Part-Time Weekend Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality psychiatric care under supervision.

The ARNP will conduct assessments, prescribe medications, provide therapy, coordinate with the Medical Director, and be on-call during weekends, averaging 32 hours per week. The role supports adolescent and adult patients in an 80-bed inpatient facility within a peaceful campus setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing with psychiatric/mental health specialization.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience with psychiatric or mental health patients.
• Active Arkansas APRN license.
• Active Arkansas State DEA license within six months of hire.
• Active National Certification from an Approved Nursing Specialty Board.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct clinical services for psychiatric patients according to established protocols under supervision.
• Independently performs assessments, risk assessments, and makes critical decisions in high risk or crisis situations.
• Performs history taking, examinations, orders labs/diagnostics, diagnoses and treats acute health problems, and arranges referrals.
• Provides counseling to promote healthy lifestyles and collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals.
• Prescribes and manages medication treatment for psychiatric conditions; may prescribe controlled substances under supervision.
• Ensures quality by reviewing patient records and coordinating with Medical Director; supports back-up medical physician coverage.
• Complies with Medical Staff bylaws, rules, and facility policies.
• On-call and weekend availability required; approximately 32 hours per week.

Seeking a Contract, Part-Time Weekend Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner!

Springwoods Behavioral Health, an 80-bed behavioral health facility located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, provides acute inpatient treatment for adolescent, adult, and specialty program for women. The hospital also offers outpatient treatment. Our six-acre campus is adjacent to a 123-acre Audubon Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary, which is held in perpetuity and cannot be developed from its natural state. This provides Springwoods with a peaceful setting for those embarked on the road to recovery.

This position oversees the quality of care delivered to assigned patients with supervising psychiatrist. Performs psychiatric assessments for individuals under his/her care. Completes documentation necessary to address patients hospitalized under civil commitment statutes. Provides individual therapy, family therapy and/or medication management as needed for patients. Appropriately requests consultation when indicated. Provides psychiatric consultation when requested. The ARNP must be available to work on call and weekends. 32 hours a week and work some weekends.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Provides direct clinical services for psychiatric patients according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the supervising physician.
• Functions independently to perform individual assessments, diagnostic functions, specialized risk assessments, and make critical decisions regarding a wide variety of health situations, including high risk and crisis situations.
• Obtains patient health histories and completes examinations. Orders, performs, and interprets lab and diagnostic imaging studies. Diagnoses and treats acute health problems. Provides health maintenance, screenings and referrals.
• Provides counseling to promote healthy lifestyles and arranges consultations and referrals. Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals as needed. Documents examination results, noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings and ensures accuracy of notes on patient medical records.
• Explains the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient’s family, or staff. Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status. Adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
• Prescribes, manages, and supervises medication treatment for psychiatric conditions. May prescribe controlled substances as stipulated in Arkansas statute and within the framework of established supervisory protocol.
• Provides quality assurance review through monitoring accuracy and comprehensiveness of patient records. Evaluates hospital records, other psychiatric reports, and related data.
• Coordinate with the Medical Director to ensure that the quality of medical services is of the highest caliber and provide competent medical physician back-up as required
• Complies with all Medical Staff Bylaws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and facility policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Master’s Degree or Post-Master’s Degree in Nursing with a Specialization in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
• Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience with psychiatric or mental health patients required
• Active Arkansas State license as APRN. Active Arkansas State DEA license within six months of hire
• Active National Certification from an Approved Nursing Specialty Board
