Job summary

Sanmina Corporation’s Austin facility is seeking an experienced CNC machinist with 5-axis milling experience. You will work from blueprints and process sheets to set up, operate, and adjust machines for precision metal and plastic parts.

You will read specifications, monitor tooling and machine performance, and coordinate with safety programs. Strong communication and IT skills are required for daily operations in a high-mix environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a CNC machinist on 5 axis machines mills or lathes.
• Must have basic computer skills (Microsoft Suite).
• Must have a good understanding of metals, and plastics.
• Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Transfer commands from servers to CNC modules; read blueprints and process sheets.
• Set up and operate CNC machines to perform functions on metal or plastic work pieces.
• Mount, install, align and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and pieces on machines.
• Ensure proper lubrication and cooling during machine operation.
• Review specifications or blueprints to determine operations and finished dimensions.
• Listen for excessive vibration or dull tools and adjust accordingly.
• Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
• Modify cutting programs to account for issues.
• Calculate machine speed and feed ratios and position cuts.
• Lift work pieces to the machine with hoists or cranes.
• Control coolant systems and ensure safe operation.
