Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support the Med Surg team. You will assist the RN with daily patient care, perform routine measurements, document in EMR, and participate in rounds. A GED or HS diploma and BLS certification are required; Nurse Aide in good standing is preferred.

Training includes lifting, patient transfer, and adherence to safety protocols. This is a full-time, 36-hour week position.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma required.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required within 45 days; Nurse Aide in good standing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily patient care including bathing, hygiene, feeding, mobility and transfers.
• Records vital signs and inputs/outputs; documents in EMR.
• Conducts rounds and communicates patient/family needs to RN.
• Assists with admission, transfer and discharge under RN supervision; helps with room setup and patient belongings.
• Collects specimens and participates in point-of-care testing per approved protocols.
• Performs errands and maintains supplies; cleans equipment and work areas.
• Performs positioning and transporting duties; assists with nutrition-related tasks.
• Ensures patient safety by managing call lights and responding promptly.
• Follows infection prevention policies and uses protective equipment as required.
