Job summary

PBS Facility Service is seeking a Building Superintendent/Handyman to manage daily maintenance, inspections and safety across the property. The role involves coordinating with contractors, implementing preventive maintenance schedules, and maintaining complete work order records.

Ideal candidates will have strong problem-solving skills, required certifications, and experience with basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry tasks.

Qualifications

• Must have strong problem-solving skills.
• Must have S12 or S13 Certification.
• Able to perform basic repairs in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in painting, plaster, sheetrock, and carpentry work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Superior customer service and tenant relations.
• Strong scheduling and time-management abilities.
• Proficient at safely using tools associated with the job.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety standards; valid S-95 Fire safety Certificate.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift heavy items.
• Ability to maneuver in small spaces.
• Ability to kneel, crouch, and climb ladders.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day building maintenance and inspections.
• Coordinate with contractors for outsourced work and repairs.
• Create and implement preventative maintenance schedules and checklists.
• Maintain and update work orders and notes in the system.
• Maintain logs for inspections of sprinkler systems, extinguishers, elevators and relevant building systems.
• Ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance across the jobsite.
• Oversee inventory of tools and supplies; issue purchase orders.
• Answer emergency calls and document incidents as required.
• Review cleaning crews’ performance and adherence to standards.
• Keep entrances and walkways clear of ice, snow, and debris.
