Job summary

New York Public Radio is seeking two part-time Broadcast Engineers for the Programming Department to support weekend live broadcasts, production and technical support for the broadcast teams.

One engineer will cover the morning shift and one the afternoon/evening shift; both on weekends. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in live audio, familiarity with NYPR's sound, strong teamwork and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in live audio production.
• Familiarity with the sound of public radio.
• Knowledge of Zetta On‑Air Delivery system is helpful.
• Fluency in audio editing and live on‑air board protocols.
• Experience using ISDN, AoIP or phone hybrids.
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative team with excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Operate the control board during weekend live broadcasts and events.
• Support on-air hosts and assist with production needs.
• Record live interviews with in-studio and remote guests.
• Use audio tools to produce and mix stories for air.
• Update news content for breaking events.
• Coordinate with Programming, News and Broadcast Technology teams.
• Provide disaster recovery support.
