Job summary

bestlogisticsgroup is seeking a Weekend Breakdown Coordinator for a part-time weekend shift (Friday & Saturday, 5:00 AM-5:00 PM) starting at $18/hour. The role focuses on diagnosing mechanical issues, coordinating repairs, and getting drivers moving again.

You will also support the maintenance team as a Service Writer, coordinating repairs, parts, and repair orders when calls are quiet. Experience with diesel trucks and fleet maintenance is a plus.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
• 2+ years of experience in breakdown coordination, fleet maintenance, or related roles.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues based on driver information.
• Good judgment on when to request roadside repair, towing, or a repair facility.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical information to drivers, technicians, and vendors.
• Ability to stay organized and prioritize while managing multiple breakdowns and repair orders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for drivers experiencing mechanical issues, tire failures, accidents, and other roadside problems.
• Troubleshoot issues and determine the severity of the problem.
• Determine whether equipment can safely make it to a shop or requires roadside service or towing.
• Find fast, practical, and cost-effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with mobile mechanics, towing companies, tire vendors, dealerships, and repair facilities.
• Communicate ETAs and repair updates to drivers, dispatch, and fleet maintenance leadership.
• Track breakdowns from the initial call through completion.
• Accurately document repairs, vendors, costs, downtime, and other important details.
• Identify recurring equipment issues and communicate potential patterns to fleet maintenance leadership.
• Escalate accidents, injuries, and major mechanical failures according to company procedures.
• When phones are quiet, open and manage repair orders for shop technicians.
• Update maintenance and TMS systems with accurate repair information.
• Help order and track parts for open repairs.
• Close completed repair orders and ensure documentation is accurate.
