Job summary

WCIA 3 in Champaign, IL, part of Nexstar Media Group, is seeking a full-time Weekend Anchor / Multimedia Journalist to produce and anchor weekend newscasts, report three days a week, and fill-in on other major newscasts. The role demands strong storytelling, anchor presence, and solid news judgment, with weekend hours required.

The ideal candidate will report across TV, web, and social platforms, manage multiple tasks, and work with management to develop stories daily.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communication/Journalism or related degree required; equivalent years of experience may substitute for education.
• Two years television anchoring or reporting experience required.
• Solid vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation.
• Strong reporting skills; understand importance of social media.
• Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce content for multiple platforms (TV, internet, mobile).
• Enterprise and develop stories daily with management.
• Demonstrate storytelling with live shots, stand-ups, graphics, and social media use.
• Write stories per editorial style and format standards.
• Gather and verify information through interviews and research.
• Build network of sources to stay ahead of competitors.
• Perform special projects as assigned.
