Job summary

WCIA 3 in Champaign, IL, is seeking a full-time Weekend Anchor / Multimedia Journalist to produce and anchor weekend newscasts, report three days a week, and be first in line to fill-in anchors for other major newscasts.

The ideal candidate brings strong anchoring skills, newsroom producing experience, leadership, and a passion for storytelling that engages viewers across live shots, stand-ups, graphics and digital platforms. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communication/Journalism or related degree required (equivalent years of experience may substitute for education)
• Two years television anchoring or reporting experience required
• Solid vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation
• Understand importance of social media
• Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar and organizational skills
• Promotes teamwork and cooperates with station personnel
• Operate newsroom computer systems

Responsibilities

• Enterprise and develop stories daily
• Demonstrate compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots and stand‑ups, creative graphics, and use of digital and social media platforms
• Organize material, determine angle or emphasis, and write story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards
• Gather and verify information regarding stories through interview, observation and research
• Build network of sources who supply information that allows the Company to stay ahead of its competitors
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned

WCIA 3 is looking for a full-time Weekend Anchor / Multimedia Journalist to work for the top station in this market.

Our new weekend anchor will produce and anchor weekend newscasts; CTV to Linear on Saturdays, Sunday news, and will report three days a week. This position will also be first in line to fill-in anchor our other primary newscasts.

We`re seeking a candidate who is passionate about storytelling, able to connect with viewers, and craft memorable moments that bring stories and newscasts to life.

The candidate should have strong anchor skills, producing experience, leadership qualities, proven enterprising skills, solid news judgment, and the ability to multi-task. This position REQUIRES working weekends.

Compensation:

NON-UNION FULL-TIME HOURLY
$18 to $19 per hour – commensurate with applicant’s experience and skill level
