Job summary

WCIA 3 in Champaign, IL seeks a Weekend Anchor / Multimedia Journalist to anchor weekend newscasts and produce content for multiple platforms. The role includes reporting three days a week and filling in on other major newscasts as needed.

The ideal candidate will deliver strong anchor skills, solid reporting ability, and enterprise stories with impactful storytelling using live shots, graphics, and digital platforms. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications/Journalism or related field required.
• Two years television anchoring or reporting experience required.
• Strong vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation.
• Understanding of social media and digital platforms.
• Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar and organizational skills.
• Promotes teamwork and cooperation with station personnel.

Responsibilities

• Produce content for multiple platforms (TV, internet, mobile).
• Enterprise and develop stories daily with management.
• Demonstrate compelling storytelling using live shots, stand-ups, graphics, and social media.
• Organize material, determine angle, and write stories to editorial standards.
• Gather and verify information through interviews, observation and research.
• Build network of sources to stay ahead of competitors.
• Perform special projects as assigned.
