Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer (Weekend, 1st Shift) to join the new AMF in Huntsville, AL, dedicated to inert fabrication of composite rocket motor hardware. The role emphasizes hands-on process management, project guidance, and adherence to design, safety, and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in manufacturing with lean methods, solid GD&T and CAD experience, and the ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with minimum 4 years of manufacturing experience.
• Graduate Degree with at least 6 years of manufacturing experience; without a degree, 8 years of experience.
• Experience in aerospace/ inert manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Champion process improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
• Support and lead facility transition efforts for inert product lines.
• Plan, develop, initiate and maintain processes for fabrication of advanced composite parts.
• Create detailed work instructions, procedures, PFMEAs, and JSAs that meet requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and training to shop floor, design and management teams.
• Analyze drawings and specs to develop robust part and tooling designs.
• Interface with related groups to ensure process safety, control and quality.
• Investigate nonconforming hardware and implement corrective actions.
• Present processes at customer readiness reviews and change boards.
• Travel: 5% may be required; occasional off-shift/weekend work.
