Job summary

University Health is seeking a dedicated Perioperative Registered Nurse to support the OR and PACU teams in Kansas City, Missouri. The role is part-time, with a daytime schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, totaling 4 hours per week, focused on ensuring safe transitions from pre-op to post-op care.

The ideal candidate will hold a Missouri RN license, have BCLS; ACLS and possibly PALS are required depending on department needs. Prior perioperative or critical care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Missouri or eligibility.
• BCLS certification current and maintained.
• ACLS required within 90 days of hire.
• PALS required if department needs.
• Radiology training/validation if radiology functions are part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative care in OR and PACU.
• Conduct pre-operative assessments.
• Monitor post-anesthesia recovery and manage pain.
• Collaborate with surgical team and anesthesia providers.
• Educate patients and families about recovery.
• Support nursing students and new staff; participate in quality initiatives.
